Located in Kill Devil Hills on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, the Wright Brothers National Memorial commemorates the two brothers that were responsible for the first successful airplane flight.

Flying is so commonplace today that people don’t bat an eye.  But imagine a world before flight ever existed, when one could only watch the birds and dream of the possibility of humans one day following suit.

The Wright brothers together shared a lofty dream.  And after years of scientific experimentation and failed attempts it was here in Kill Devil Hills that they finally made their dream a reality.

On December 17th, 1903 the Wright Brothers were truly the first in flight.

Their unrelenting courage and determination should continue to inspire us today to not be afraid to dream the impossible and never let go of what we believe can be achieved.

The memorial bears a powerful inscription:

“In commemoration of the conquest of the air by the brothers Wilbur and Orville Wright conceived by genius achieved by dauntless resolution and unconquerable faith.”

The Wright brothers imagination & faith is so admirable.  I aspire to be able to dream just as brazenly — but not just dream, to go out there and really GRAB that dream.  MAKE IT HAPPEN.

I’d love to hear from you in the comments below.  Tell me, can you fly?

And by fly I mean: can you DREAM?

Do you dare and dream and face the impossible? Or have you ever believed something so strongly that you’d do anything you could to make that dream a reality?
