The air is soft and moist and you’re whizzing through the air like a bird, racing through tree tunnels, flying over streams, over a canopy of trees- where out in the open looking out from the forest the blue mountains bejewel the distance, and you’re still gliding gliding, catching their magnificence as fast as the land below you is a rapidly fading scene…
and BOOM, you’ve landed on the next platform, way up in the trees.

Well, there’s nothing like trying something new, and I’m all for a little fun + adventure, so when it came to ziplining, I said, “sure, why not?”
Here I am getting suited up:
Getting ready for our first zip:
And here we go! Our first practice zip.
Me on one of the first practice runs. A chance to get your feet wet and make sure you wanted to continue the adventure. (And OF COURSE I wanted to! give me more give me more! : )
From platform to platform we flew.
and out into the forest beyond
the zips stretched farther than our eyes could reach… out into the tree-filled abyss
Here I go again, wheee!!
Here’s a video of one of my gal pals taking off:
And here are 2 videos I recorded while in the air. They’re a bit blurry and may make you feel dizzy, sorry! (Hmm, maybe it’s time to invest in a GoPro camera with helmet mount!! : )
A peek through the trees of the hazy mountains in the distance.
Besides zipping, we got to cross some bridges too.
A look down.
And a little rappelling too:
The only thing I wished was different about ziplining was that the zips were longer! The time you spend in the air is SO so so fun I wanted them to last forever! (well maybe not forever, but definitely a lot longer!) As soon as I finished each zip I was like, “ooo! I wanna do it again!” haha : )
Can’t wait to go back!
(Thanks to the folks at Navitat, Asheville, for a fun-filled day!)
TELL ME, have you ever been ziplining? If so, where? I wanna hear all about your ziplining adventure in the comments below!
What a great experience!! I’ve never done it but wouldn’t mind giving it a try. I’d certainly start off short. Love your video and pictures and comments.
Thanks LP! It’s sooooo fun! I bet you would love it!
Wow, looks like fun Lia. I have tried a beginner one in Morganton but need to graduate up and do that one or the one in Green River. Love your free spirited fun!
SUCH a blast! This one was really great – I did the Moody Cove but want to do the Blue Ridge experience next time. I would love to do the Green River Gorge as well! : )
WOW!! Looks like so much fun, but don’t know if I’d be that brave! Gorgeous views, tho! (Weren’t your arms sore the next day? Haha) You are quite the daredevil!
sooooo much fun! I think you could do it! Might be scary for you but you just DO IT and LET GO…. I think you’d have a blast. views were pretty but since it was a hazy day (poured rain on our drive there!) most of the mountain views were covered – still lovely though! and yes, my arms were a wee bit sore from the hand braking you do to stop yourself!
Awesome post! Your big smile at the end of this adventure says it all 🙂
thank you! haha yes I was all smiles!
Lovely stuff Bobo! Into the great wild open… x
that’s right! wild open : ) xo!
Wow! I would be terrified! Those tree stands and little bridges look so precarious! However – I do think this is something that I could muster up the courage to do simply because it would be so cool to experience part of an ecosystem that is otherwise unreachable by humans! Do you know that even Florida has ziplining?
