Colder & dry weather wreaking havoc on your skin? Mine too. But the good news is it only takes about 2 minutes to transform your skin from parched and rough back to dewy + radiant.
Whenever my skin starts to look/feel a little lackluster this is what I do.
It’s quick, inexpensive, and you probably have these items right in your kitchen already.
THE RECIPE
sugar*
olive oil*
* I use organic
Combine just a couple tablespoons of sugar with a nice drizzle of olive oil in bowl and stir well.
On clean, damp face, gently scrub sugar paste over skin in circular motion, paying attention to all areas including chin, cheeks, nose, forehead, and even lips!
Whatever’s leftover I use to scrub my hands (the backs and palms) well.
Wash off with a gentle soap. (I use my own Stella Deer organic olive oil soap that I make).
Pat skin dry. Finish with a nice facial massage with organic oil of your choice. Right now I’m hooked on argan oil. (And no, the oil won’t make you break out.)
It’s normal if your skin’s a bit pink at first. Mine always is too after a scrub. Afterall, your just sloughed away layers of surface level dead skin cells. But don’t worry. Soon enough your skin will be shining bright to the envy of everyone you meet.
Now leave a comment and tell me: what other ways do you combat the cold weather skin blues?
I’ll have to try this! I like putting vegetable glycerin in my hair after I wash it and Neutrogena Norwegian formula hand cream on my hands in the dry winter months
hm I’ve never tried vegetable glycerin in my hair, I’ll have to try it. It doesn’t make it look greasy? I do put vegetable glycerin in the body lotion I make for myself though. For my hands I’ve been using a salve that I made with organic olive oil infused with organic calendula flowers from the garden!
I remembered recently totally randomly while showering (great thoughts occur in the shower! haha) that I used to put vegetable glycerin in my hair too! I don’t remember why I stopped, but now I’ve gotten back into the habit and it really makes my hair feel nice and conditioned and less frizzy, and not greasy at all. Thanks for your comment that made me remember this great hair care tip! 😉
Easy enough! I always have olive oil & sugar on hand! I will definitely do this when I have my next spa nite in the tub!
hooray for spa nites! : )
